AL-MESSEIRI: EFFORTS TOWARDS ORGANIZING THE INTERNATIONAL SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIP IN EGYPT

Under the auspices of Hani Al-Messeiri, Governor of Alexandria, Alexandria holds the International Squash Championship for Females on June 4- 10, at Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Al-Messeiri announced that the organizing committee has finished all procedures and preparations for the championship in record time. The championship was planned to take place next year, but the Governor insisted to finish all procedures during just one month, removing all obstacles before the organizing committee, given that the tournament includes the best squash players of the world. The Governor stressed that holding such international events in Egypt is the best answer to skeptics of Egypt's ability to organize world championships. He considers this a good opportunity to support and promote tourism, drawing the world’s attention to one of the major world attractions; Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which will give even more strength and success to the championship. Al-Messeiri paid tribute to Eng.Khalid Abdul Aziz, Minister of Youth and Sports, for his support to the idea of the championship, and faith in the Governor’s ability to organize a world championship, crowning Egypt the Queen of world squash. Amr Mansi, Tournament Manager, announced the launch of the preliminary rounds next Thursday at Sporting stadiums, to determine the 8 qualified players for the finals. The first round will be held next Friday including 16 matches.
