The Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, Governor of Alexandria, received Mr. Matthew Jordan Tank, Director of Sustainable Infrastructure Policy at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and his accompanying delegation, representatives of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, in addition to a number of concerned authorities and bodies in Alexandria Governorate, to attend the closing meeting of the Green Cities Action Plan in Alexandria.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Governor of Alexandria praised the efforts made by the European Bank and the fruitful cooperation with Alexandria, which yielded results in developing a special action plan for the city to face the current environmental challenges.
The Alexandria Governor explained that the EBRD's Green Cities Program aims to build a better and more sustainable future for cities and their inhabitants by identifying and prioritising cities' environmental challenges and linking them to investments in sustainable infrastructure and measures related to public policies. The program is currently being implemented in more than 60 cities around the world.
For his part, Dr. Walid Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and representative of the European Bank's consultants, gave a presentation on the Green Cities Action Plan—Alexandria.
