Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, and The Vice admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, Governor of Alexandria, inspected a number of development projects in Alexandria Governorate.
They inspected the Integrated Strategy for Rainwater Management Project in Victor Amanwel Square,Sharq neighborhood, as well as the Eastern Purification Project at the sewage treatment plant for the East of Alexandria area, in order to ensure the readiness of lining up the Equipment ,Cars and Loaders before the winter season.
The vice admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, Governor of Alexandria, confirmed that the Integrated Strategy for Rainwater Management project ,is one of the projects implemented by the Governorate, which comes within the framework of working to confront the rainwater that the governorate faces annually, as a result of climate change.
The strategy aims to a partial separation of rain and sewage networks in some areas that affected by the climate changes in the winter season.

Projects that benefit the city of Alexandria ,the “Eastern Purification Sludge Digester” project, which aims to reduce the production of sludge in the wastewater treatment plant ,by getting rid of volatile materials using anaerobic digestion and reducing the polymer consumption of the plant, to preserve the environment and restore energy through cogeneration using biogas produced in the anaerobic digestion process as an internal source of electricity for the wastewater treatment plant and stabilizing the sludge to avoid its fermentation after disposal, in addition to producing the gas which is used to produce 60% of the electrical energy required to operate the Eastern Purification Plant.
The Minister of Local Development and the Governor of Alexandria listened to a detailed explanation about the integrated rainwater management strategy project from the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the project consultant, and the executing company.
The Minister of Local Development stressed the importance of the integrated rainwater management strategy project, which has been implemented on Alexandria in recent years, pointing out that this project is one of the most important radical solutions that has contributed significantly to reduce the effects caused by the unprecedented amounts of rainwater falling in the Governorate over the past years.
Dr. Manal Awad praised the efforts made by the company which implement the project ,to complete it quickly, also she asked for returning everything to its original form after the completion of the entire project ,as paving and other related works.
The Minister of Local Development also directed to accelerate the implementation of the rest of the targeted works of the project according to the timetable ,in the light of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly’s follow-up to the implementation rates of the ongoing projects , to facilitate the means of life for citizens, and the advancement of the level of services provided to them in various sectors and fields.
The Minister of Local Development also referred to the great support that Alexandria Governorate received during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as the governorate witnesses many national and development projects in various and vital sectors for the interest of citizens and those from neighboring governorates.
This came in the presence of Engineer Amira Salah, Deputy Governor, Major General Mahmoud Nafea, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sanitation Company in Alexandria, and a number of concerned leaders.
