Major General Mohamed EL- Sherif, governor of Alexandria, participated today in the ceremony organized by the Chinese Consulate on the occasion of the Chinese Spring Festival (Year of the Dragon), which is considered one of the most important holidays for the Chinese people.
The event was attended by Mr. Liao Liqiang, the Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, Mr. Yang Yi, the Consul General of China in Alexandria, Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, the President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, and members of the diplomatic corps in Alexandria.
In his speech, Brigadier General Mohammed El-Sherif extended his sincere congratulations, on behalf of himself and the people of Alexandria, to the great Chinese people on the occasion of the Spring Festival and the Chinese New Year in the People's Republic of China.
He emphasized the depth of the Egyptian-Chinese relations, which are currently experiencing a golden era due to the distinguished friendship at the political leadership level between Egypt and China. He pointed out that China is one of Egypt's largest trading partners and an important strategic ally.
The Governor highlighted the bilateral relations and agreements between the city of Alexandria and a number of Chinese cities and provinces. He also mentioned the development of relations between the two sides in all areas, especially in the fields of trade and investment, where many Chinese companies are present in the industrial zone in Borg El Arab and the free zone in Alexandria.
