Major General Mohamed al-Sharif, #Governor of Alexandria, opened, this evening, Zewail Square in the central neighborhood after completing its development and raising its efficiency and inspecting the lighting works carried out through the use of photovoltaic cells; in preparation for using solar energy as a source of electricity, as an experiment to be circulated in the rest of the main fields, as well as inspecting the development and upgrading of the efficiency of the gazaltain square, Crescent Square and cube, within the framework of the competition "Alexandria shines with its squares". The governor of Alexandria explained that the work of developing the squares and turning them into attractive urban facades is part of an integrated plan aimed at rehabilitating and developing the city by increasing green spaces with the use of lights, afforestation and planting works to enhance the aesthetic manifestations of Alexandria. Mr.El-Sherif added that "Alexandria shines with its squares" is a new competition of its kind whose main goal is to create a competitive spirit among the executive bodies of neighborhoods to exert maximum effort to develop and raise the efficiency of public squares and parks, within the framework of the governorate's plan to develop squares and parks while preserving its identity as well as increasing green areas, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership Climatic conditions. This came in the presence of Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Deputy Governor, Major General/ Khaled Juma, Secretary General of the governorate, engineer/ Jehan Massoud, Assistant Secretary General of the governorate and general supervisor of the competition, Ms. Aza Saad, president of the Central District, Dean/ Mohammed Abidin, director of the General Department of Hygiene and beautification of the city, Professor/ Mohammed Al-Halwani, director of the General Administration of Central Parks, Dr./ Tarek al-qaii, former dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and member of the evaluation committee, Dr./ Mohammed Kishk, vice dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and member of the evaluation committee, Dr./ Asma al-Sayyed Dr. Saeed Badr, professor of sculpture department, faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, member of the evaluation committee. This came the work of developing and raising the efficiency of the fields in the neighborhood as a gift from the B-Post Company for advertising and media to Dr. Abeer Adel in partnership with civil society.
