Today, Major General Mohamed El Sherif, Governor of Alexandria, held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank to discuss Alexandria's experience in combating climate change, within the framework of achieving the sustainable development goals, the national strategy for climate change, and Egypt's hosting of the COP27 climate conference. This came in the presence of; Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Deputy Governor, Dr. Nabil Muhammad, representative of the Ministry of Local Development, Dr. Muhammad Nada, senior expert on urban development, Dr. Walid Abdel Azim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Environmental Affairs, and the concerned authorities. 🔻 During the meeting; The governor affirmed that the state, under the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, is working hard to confront climate change and global warming. He pointed out that the climate change file is one of the most important topics that the governorate is working on, and seeks to implement the green economy to meet the environmental and climatic challenges that the whole world has been going through in the recent period. 🔻 Al-Sharif added that the governorate is keen to encourage and provide full support for projects that operate on clean energy and aim to protect our city. He added that Alexandria was honored by the presence of the first wholesale market in the world powered by clean and renewable electric energy "solar energy".
