Dr Abd El-Aziz Qonsowa, Governor of Alexandria, paid an official visit to Italy to meet with a number of officials in the Italian capital Rome and a number of officials from the city of Catania on the island of Sicily to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two sides in a number of fields.The governor stressed the deep historical and cultural ties between the two countries and showed Egypt's keenness to maintain ties and close relations with Italy. He reviewed the vision of reviving the cultural heritage of the Mediterranean Bride "Alexandria" which includes the project of establishing a museum under the sea in the ancient city by the sea coast of Bibliotheca Alexandrina. He also discussed with Italian Minister Alberto Bonisoli the exchange of archaeological exhibitions between Alexandria and Rome, in order to introduce the Italian and Egyptian communities to the cultural ties between the two countries. He signed an agreement which includes cooperation in the economic and trade fields as well as in the maritime transport and ports sector.
